Stacked Pumpkins - WIP

Pumpkins! Pumpkins! Pumpkins! Ever since I got a technique down to make a hollow jack o'lantern, I have been using it constantly! For the past two days I have been working on jack o'lanterns. I actually managed to make 6 or 7 of them. They each have different faces, but I want those to be a surprise!

I will show you, however, how the stacked pumpkins are coming along!

Each one is made from 4 hollow pumpkins, so it takes a while. Haha! I am using all kinds of tools to get these hollow, and to look as realistic as I can.

Here is a little sneak peek at one of the requested jack o'lanterns I got in an order. The customer wanted and angry face and a scared one! Here is the scared one....

I actually finished the bodies of these Jacks, but I still have A LOT to do. Hats, bow-ties.... and.... other things..... ;)

I WILL go ahead and let you guys know that they are hollow for a reason. I am on the search for some sort of light to put inside them! I still am not sure how I will pull this one off, but let's hope I figure it out!

That's it for today! Sorry I don't have much to show you! Sometimes I can work for hours and hours and only have a few items to show for it.

I hope everyone is having a great day! And enjoying the Fall! :D

  1. Oh my gosh, did you texture the insides too? It looks like it. That is the coolest scared pumpkin ever :D

If only they made itty bitty tea lights. What about the 12 volt Micro-flame bulbs?

    1. I did texture the insides! Haha! Thank you!

I actually have been thinking about the little bulb lights, but I haven't had the money to buy the initial materials for it. I would need the mini generator, the power strip, and then the cords and bulbs! It would be about 50 or so dollars for the initial investment and although I would LOVE to get it now, I can't really afford it! xD

  2. Gosh the shape is perfect and yet you have managed to hollow them out. Well done, it looks terribly time consuming. Looking forward to seing the finished pieces.

  4. I know the perfect place for the little lights you need. Go to Evans Designs. They have lights for minis that run on small batteries. Their prices are very reasonable and the possibilities are endless!

    1. Thanks, Kathi! Those are perfect!

The only thing is I can't use them for the ones I have already made because there is now place on the inside for me to put the lights in... Hmm.... Maybe I can make a door or opening in the back?

  5. Tru2Scale.com has tiny lights for their teeny tiny glitter houses. The battery will fit nicely in the large base punkins. I also sympathize with working forever to make just a small piece or two. I don't know how others can crank this stuff out so fast?!? xo

    1. I forgot about those glitter houses! I will check there before I check anywhere else, Thanks so much, Natasha!

And I KNOW! I try to work as often as I can, but I still seem to not make as much as other people!

  6. BTW what kind of clay do you ude? I use premo but find it is still too soft for me..the details just melt in my hands. Also how do you avoid dust? I can't even work with white clay!!! Thanks Blake...

    1. I tend to use whatever I have on hand, but lately I use FIMO soft. It tends to get pretty soft, but I take small breaks so the clay doesn't get too warm!

And for dust... well... I just deal with it :( I wash my hands with a baby wipe often and I wear clothes that don't shed fibers and if I do get anything on my clay I just pick it off with a needle and smooth it back over! I wish it was easier!
