I have been having SO MUCH fun making these miniature animals. The last one I showed you (and my first mini animal ever) was a scruffy-looking raccoon! Here are a few more animals I have made since then!
The second animal I made was this cute little skunk! I have to say, this may be my favorite animal so far... He even has a name already! Walter! Dubbed so by my friend, Karine! Walter is part of our most recent trade and will soon be on his way to Canada!
The third animal I made was this grey cat! I love cats, but I have a little bit of an allergy so I have to keep my distance most of the time. The face was a bit of challenge, but I see many more in my near future- so there will be plenty of practice. It's tricky blending the longer fur with the flock on the face, while also keeping the features clear.
Oh! I also made this mouse after I made the raccoon. I wanted to try something REALLY small. I think it looks fine from a distance, but once you look closer you can see there isn't much shape. I still love it, though! You can click on the picture to zoom, if you'd like!
And just in case you missed the last post, here is a picture of that first animal I made. This little raccoon was my first miniature animal I have ever made! I made it with a bamboo/silk blend yarn I found at Hobby Lobby, however I feel like the fiber was TOO soft to work with. It kept slipping between my fingers- and even the tweezers! The mouse is also made with this type of fiber. After those first couple critters, I ordered some alpaca fibers online and thats what the skunk and cat are furred with. I LOVE working with the alpaca- it has a cleaner look to it and it wasn't hard to get used to working with.
That's all for today! Oh! I also want to let you all know that I have applied for the Indie Craft Parade in Greenville, SC, again this year! We will find out June 30th who the final exhibitors are. Keep me in your thoughts! I had a blast last year and I would love to be a part of it again this year. When I was in it the first time I had no idea how to prepare so I didn't really make an "announcement" I was in it. I want to make sure that if I get in this year I will let you all know ahead of time so I might get a chance to meet some of you! :D
Thanks for stopping by!

Aww! Thank you so very much!
DeleteLovely animals! I really like the skunk! I love making animals too, but it's quite hard I think =) I have only tried wool so far, but love to try something more shiny =) I think you have done a great job blending both flocking and longer fur, and made great faces, they look very good around the eyes, and I think that is the hardest part =)
ReplyDeleteHannah
Thank you, Hannah! The sculpting is the hardest part for me... Even when I get to a place a like, I end up looking at it later wanting to change it!
