Front Porch - Part 1

Another successful day! This is what I did today :)

I covered the wooden front porch with my bricks, and continued the whole process of cutting, gluing, painting.

And to make the columns a little more interesting, I am adding bricks to them as well!

Here is what they look like on the front porch, just to give me an idea.

Red... red... red...

I added some different colors over the red, but I wasn't sure which ones to use. Haha! So I added some browns, greys, and other tones of reds.

Oh! Here is what I did to the columns. I built up the bottom with some foam core. Then I covered them in bricks :)

I wasn't really liking how my other door was turning out, so I bought a new one! I also found these doorknobs at Hobby Lobby. They came with itty bitty keys! And I also found a doorknocker! I think the details of the knob and knocker will really make the door look realistic :)

And here is what it all looks like so far! Looking at this now, I realize that I need to make the front steps while I am in brick-making mode. Also, ignore the bricks on the left column. I haven't glued those all down yet. It has been getting darker earlier, so I will stop working on The Bazaar when I can't take pictures any more.  I also need to work on the window frames.... Hmm... I guess I can go ahead and paint the door and window frames tonight.

We shall see! I know I want to make some more jack o'lanterns really soon so I can get them sold before Halloween! I love Halloween. Er.... I think I've probably said that like a million times. Haha!

Well, that's all for today! Thanks for stopping by :) Don't forget to let me know what you think! I respond to every comment!

  1. Love the herringbone pattern you used with the bricks! You are going to have this finished and decorated for Halloween in plenty of time. The door is perfect for the house :) Good Luck on those jack o' lanterns, I had to put my play stuff away to get some work done LOL.

  6. The bricks are perfectly made and laid so neatly! I have seen large stones made like this, but these are simply superb and so light in weight too!

    Wonderful work Blake!
