this week at the bazaar!

It's Friday already?!?!?! Where does the week go?! I feel like just yesterday I post last week's wrap up!

Oh well! Lately there is always something going on at the Bazaar so let's get to it!

1.) Today I tried my hand at making a butterfly cane! Not only was it more complicated than I expected, it took forever! Haha!

This wasn't just something random, either. There is a shop that opened up in town called The Blu Butterfly. I met the owner some time ago through Etsy when I was playing around with Etsy shop banners and stuff. I made her a whole branding package and we have still ~kinda~ kept contact over this whole time.

Anyways, I made this cane so that I could make some earrings and pins and maybe even some charms or beads - all for The Blu Butterfly! This is actually the practice cane, but I am gonna make some example pieces with it so I can go show the owner and see what she thinks!

These almost look like drawings to me... which makes me like them even more!

I still want to play around with what I can do with the cane. Like I said before: earrings, pins, beads, charms, magnets (?).... Anyone have any other ideas?

2.) I also practiced my pumpkins this week! (Shout-out to Jenny who loves pumpkins!) I made them different colors other than orange because I want to have a wider variety this year than I did last year - I can't wait to start on Autumn minis!

3.) We also can't forget about my little watermelons! Which, by the way are listed HERE in my Etsy shop.

4.) There was also the Ombre Cakes and Sprinkle Cakes from the beginning of the week!

5.) I also have been practicing on some fruit! I am having a lot of fun with these, most likely because I have never made many fruits before- so you can expect some fruits to be listed in the Etsy shop soon! Haha! But only after I am happy with how everything looks. In this next image I was playing around with the translucency, hue, and size of each fruit.

6.) I also got a request on Etsy for a set of custom cake boxes. The customer wanted a teal box with little white stars- here is what I came up with!

7.) I know I already made one point about the fruit, but one thing I am SUPER happy with is my blueberries and the little basket! I can't wait to make more of these and have them sitting on my produce stand!

8.) I cut my hair! Yes, by "I cut my hair" I mean I CUT IT MYSELF. I don't know how practical it is, but I prefer to cut it myself because I hate going to the barber JUST to get almost all my hair cut off and thrown away. I know this is kinda irrelevant... but... it still happened this week! Hahaha!

UGH. Notice the little lock of hair over on the side. Hey.. I said I cut it, I didn't say anything about brushing it. HAHAHA. Also, I am beginning to hate the color of my room. I love green and brown and it suited me when I painted it a few months ago, but I am ready for something different. Something lighter. Maybe a project for the coming week!? :D

Well, that's all for now! I hope you enjoyed today's post!
Until next time!

Halloween Cakes - Classic Yellow - Halloween 2012

I don't know if anyone in the blog world knows this, but I also like to bake cakes in real life. I like to go all out- sculpt them, use fondant and gum-paste, the whole nine yards! That is where I get A LOT of my inspiration. There are just so many things out there and every time I see it I think. " That would look great in miniature!"

I know I have posted a couple images of the cakes, but here is an in depth post about them. Here are the available colors.

Once again, we have orange, green, and purple. I am a sucker for chocolate, though- so I HAD to make one with chocolate icing!

Each cake comes with two slices cut off. Each slice is textured on one side. A spare candle also comes with it. I know that is always the first thing I'd do if I got the slice with a candle on it! - TAKE THE CANDLE OFF AND LICK THE ICING. Haha Wouldn't you? :)

If you are interested in purchasing one of these cakes, check out my Etsy shoppe.

I am also now including a cake box with each cake! I designed the boxes myself. It was a bit of a pain cutting, scoring, gluing, and assembling each one- but I think it just wraps the cake up nicely! Here are a few shots of the boxes.

Well that's all for today :) I will continue to make more in depth posts about this year's Halloween range, so stay close!

NEW Halloween Miniatures! - Halloween 2012

It is FINALLY happening! Halloween items have been listed! :D I am still making more, so hang in tight! I mainly wanted to get some of this photographed and listed as soon as I could!

I listed all of my cakes-

There are orange, green, purple, and chocolate iced cakes. They are all available in classic yellow or chocolate cake.

A cake box is included with each cake! These boxes were designed, hand cut, and hand assembled by me! Yay!

Here is an overview of all the party cakes-

OH! I also listed some new doughnuts- to match the cakes, of course! :D

ANNNDDDDD.....  I made some pumpkins! I haven't had a chance to make any more jack o'lanterns, but I will get to that soon!

Jelly beans. Color coordinated, as well!

This is something new... Bunting banners! This is very new for me, but I really like how these turned out! I made three designs- polka dots, stripes, and candy corn! I haven't listed the candy corn ones yet because they go with something else I am working on :)

And here are some shots of the cakes in their boxes!

I hope you all like everything! I know there are a few of you out there that want some candy corn, and I am hard at work making some more! They are SO SO tiny that it literally HURTS to sit still for so long to make them. Please feel free to check out my Etsy.

Have a great day!

Making progress :)

GOODNESS. Working on these paper things takes forever! Today I covered a lot of ground- I cut out all of the candy labels/tags and I cut out all the cake boxes! I almost have them glued- I have about half left. I wish they hadn't taken me so long to make them, but I basically didn't do ANYTHING the other day because I had a really bad headache :(

The above image is the finished candy labels and also the boxes cut out. I designed everything on the computer myself from scratch, except for the AWESOME decoration around my name on the top of the boxes. This design is one of the Photoshop brushes the lovely Lileya . She has tons of other things she has made and they are all free to use as long as you give her credit and don't take credit for them yourself. I would really love to draw up my own some time, but I don't have enough time to design them and STILL get all of the Halloween things listed.

Here are some detail shots of the cake boxes. They will have some thread wrapped around them to keep them closed :)

I am so happy to show you this next picture! There was a sale at Micheal's Craft Store this week- ALL polymer clay was 99 cents a block. 99 CENTS A BLOCK. Can you believe that? That's almost a third of the original price! Needless to say I got about 25 blocks of it. I wanted to get some more so bad, but I am running low on funds lately :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and reading! I will hopefully have some more pictures of minis up soon. I didn't expect to take this long on the paper goods!
